Introduction/Overview

The HVAC Technology program prepares students for entry-level employment as heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) technicians. Students develop the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and light commercial HVAC systems. The curriculum emphasizes refrigeration principles, electrical controls, heating systems, air conditioning installation, system design, performance testing, and industry safety standards. Students also receive training to prepare for EPA Refrigerant Recovery Certification, an essential credential for HVAC professionals.

Through extensive laboratory experiences, students gain practical skills in interpreting wiring diagrams, diagnosing system malfunctions, charging and servicing refrigeration systems, performing startup procedures, and designing residential comfort systems. Graduates are prepared for careers in residential and commercial HVAC service, installation, maintenance, and system design.
