Automotive Technician: Instructor

Douglas Hooks is an experienced automotive professional and educator with more than 20 years of experience in the automotive industry. He currently serves as an automotive instructor for Lee College at the Huntsville Unit, a position he has held for several years. In this role, he provides hands-on training and technical instruction to students pursuing careers in automotive technology, helping them develop the skills necessary for success in the field.

Hooks attended Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Phoenix, Arizona, graduating in 2009. Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience working in a variety of automotive settings, including Sears Automotive, Toyota, Chevrolet, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) Mechanical Department. These diverse experiences have provided him with a broad knowledge base in automotive diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and industry best practices.

As an ASE Master Certified Technician, Hooks has demonstrated a high level of technical competence and commitment to professional excellence. His combination of industry experience, technical expertise, and dedication to education allows him to effectively prepare students for careers in the automotive field while promoting safety, professionalism, and lifelong learning.
