Graduates of the Automotive Technology program will demonstrate the following technical skills and competencies:
- Proficiency in the use of automotive hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to safely perform automotive service procedures in compliance with OSHA and EPA standards.
- Competence in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle system faults.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service information systems.
- Skill in performing engine repair, including disassembly, measurement, and reassembly.
- Proficiency in servicing brake, suspension, and steering systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair automotive electrical, starting, and charging systems.
- Competence in HVAC system diagnosis and refrigerant handling procedures.
- Skill in diagnosing drivability concerns related to fuel, ignition, and emissions systems.
- Ability to use computerized diagnostic tools and scan equipment to analyze vehicle performance.
- Demonstration of workplace readiness skills including teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
